👨‍🌾 About the Origin:

Nestled in the rugged southwest of Colombia, Nariño is a region defined by dramatic landscapes and a vibrant coffee tradition. Home to more than 40,000 smallholder farmers—many cultivating less than one hectare—it contributes just 4% of Colombia’s total coffee production, yet its reputation in specialty coffee reaches far beyond its size.

Coffee thrives here between 1,300 and 2,300 meters above sea level, under the shadow of iconic volcanoes such as Galeras and Doña Juana. The region’s unique combination of steep terrain, fertile volcanic soils, and cool Andean breezes creates ideal conditions for slow cherry maturation and exceptional cup complexity.

Nariño’s diverse geography—ranging from humid coastal plains to temperate high mountain plateaus—gives rise to multiple microclimates, enabling producers to grow highly distinctive profiles across the region. Deep Indigenous traditions and generations of coffee-growing expertise lend Nariño coffees a strong sense of identity and origin.

🌱 Inga Community:

This regional coffee was sourced from the Indigenous Inga community, who maintain profound ancestral ties to their territory and a worldview centered on Mother Earth. Their autonomous territory (resguardo) allows them to manage their lands and community development according to ancestral governance systems.

Supported by Colombia’s Unit for Victims and partners such as Café Costal, the community has invested in local infrastructure and quality control processes, elevating their international reputation. Today, the Inga stand as a model of resilience, sustainability, and coffee excellence—demonstrating how coffee can serve as both cultural preservation and a foundation for territorial peace.
