👨🌾 About the Coffee producer:
Hidden in the rugged southwest of Colombia, Nariño stands out for its dramatic landscapes, fertile volcanic soils, and deep coffee-growing heritage. Although it represents only 4% of the country’s production, the region is recognised for producing some of the most highly valued cup profiles in Colombia, thanks to its distinct microclimates and extreme altitudes.
In this unique environment grows the coffee of Emerson Chazoi, a member of the Indigenous Inga community and part of the new generation driving the transformation of Aponte. A university student of Social Communication, Emerson maintains a strong connection with his family’s farm, where coffee not only supports his studies but also fuels his curiosity and commitment to his territory.
He actively participates in agricultural work and community initiatives, supporting local leaders and acting as a youth representative. His story reflects the role that Inga youth are embracing: using coffee as an economic driver, as a means of cultural preservation, and as a tool to build a sustainable and peaceful future.
The Inga people of Aponte cultivate their land under a worldview deeply connected to Mother Earth. After reclaiming their ancestral territory, they have developed a resilient, proud and forward-looking coffee culture, where projects like this represent far more than coffee: they represent identity, dignity and collective hope.
